Goodbye, Pasta House…and welcome back.
On Monday of this week, the St. Louis Business Journal broke the news that the Pasta House Co. restaurant at the corner of Old Bonhomme and Delmar in University City would close its doors before the end of the year because of lease renewal issues.
The next day, PHC co-owner Kim Tucci told Relish that "an alternate arrangement" was in the works, terms that were finalized yesterday: Pasta House will remain in the space until it finds another location or the landlord finds a new tenant. Both sides must give the other 90 days notice, an agreement otherwise known as “a 90-day kickout.”
So “the home of the golden toasted ravioli” will remain at 8213 Delmar, at least in the short term, but that fact remains that 6800 square feet is “just too big,” according to Tucci, reasoning that a third of the Delmar store’s business was take-out and "I can do that in 10 square feet.”
An editorial side: For what it's worth, we think the Delmar location is the best in town, mainly due of the efforts of a veteran staff who never miss an opportunity to upsell the diner with an order of “Hot Cheesy Garlic Bread.” We've never turned ‘em down... and never regretted the decision.
