The First Annual Taste in Ferguson fundraiser will bring together about 20 Ferguson and Florissant eateries offering their best beers, pizzas, pastries and other treats to help put the quaint neighborhoods on St. Louis’ culinary radar.
On Sunday, June 30, every $10-$20 ticket for Taste in Ferguson will help support the Robbie McGartland & Samantha Lipka Memorial Scholarship Fund, a campaign to help local students fund their educations in the name of two Ferguson teens who died.
“We wanted to do something very unique and something that promoted the City of Ferguson as well, because they’ve been so wonderful to us,” co-organizer Linda Lipka said.
So far, 19 restaurants are on board for the tasting — Cose Dolci, Paul’s Market, Marley’s Bar & Grill, Goody Goody Diner, Whistle Stop Frozen Custard, El Palenque, Faraci Pizza, Ferguson Brewing Company, Cork Wine Bar, Corner Coffee House, Vincenzo’s, Red The BBQ Man, Iron Grill, de.lish Cheesevake Cakery and Cafe, OrGanoGold Coffee, Papa Murphy’s, Yacovelli’s, Pirrone’s Pizzeria, and Pie Craft.
But Taste in Ferguson features more than just food. The Northern Arts Council will be sourcing five local artists to demonstrate their crafts on easels during the event. Also in attendance will be the three youth programs — Ferguson Youth Initiative, the Challenger Learning Center and The Magic House, the popular children's museum — that will provide activities for the kids. The adults can bop to a rock band or sway to a cello-flute combo outside of the Savoy Banquet Center, where three musical acts will perform throughout the day.
Taste in Ferguson will be held at 119 S. Florissant from 3-6 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children and can be purchased at thetasteinferguson.com, at the door or at a number of local businesses, including Corner Coffee House, Ferguson Farmers’ Market, Whistle Stop Frozen Custard, Marley’s Bar and Grill, and Robinwood Automotive.
