Good news for dieters and the thrifty: LoRusso's Cucina has done something that's almost revolutionary. Rich and Terri have revamped their menu, reducing portion sizes and prices on many items.
That's a revolution, you say? While some restaurants surreptitiously reduce portions and maintain prices, or just raise prices--or even do both--the LoRusso's have addressed two issues Italian restaurant diners have wrestled with for years.
For those of us who love food and also could do with a little more willpower, this is a good idea. They certainly haven't gone to Modern-American-at-its-extreme-sized portions, but just taken servings down about 20%. It's easy enough to do with things like butternut squash ravioli and appetizers like calamari. Of course, you can't downsize a pork shank, but in the appetizer section, six of 11 have been scaled back.
We know there are folks who feel that immense portions are their right at restaurants, but for many of us, we know by our pants size that this is a good move. It's about time someone did this, considering the still-recovering economy and the American avoirdupois. We say hooray for Rich and Terri LoRusso.
