For the first time, L’École Culinaire is opening up its Tuscany cooking trip to the public. The Italian cuisine program, which includes a week-long excursion to Tuscany, was previously limited to L’École students wrapping up their degree.
The culinary tour of Tuscany runs May 31 through June 7, and is led by Chef Claudio Piantini of Torre Guelfa Restaurant. The accomplished chef and sommelier hosts cooking lessons amidst his own vineyards and olive groves in the medieval town of Figline Valdarno, just outside Florence.
Piantini will teach participants how to prepare traditional Tuscan dishes such as crostini, ribollita (a soup of bread, beans, and vegetables), and castagnaccio (chestnut flour cake). Aimed at exploring the simplicity of Tuscan cuisine, the program also features visits to open-air markets, the Chianti wine country, and a walking tour of Florence’s food and culture offerings.
The package costs $4,700 per person and includes accommodations in Tuscany and Rome, round-trip airfare and transfers, four hands-on cooking classes, meals, and outings around town.
