Beginning on Saturday, February 4, long-time local radio broadcaster David Craig will host an hour-long weekly food and dining show from 11 a.m. to noon every Saturday on KFNS, better known as 590-The FAN. The show will be called Food Talk STL.
Such a show should come as no surprise. TV shows about food and dining remain popular, while more and more segments on news and talk shows seem to be featuring somebody cooking something.
For a radio format, though, featured guests can run the restaurant gamut, back of the house to front: cooks, chefs, servers, bartenders (or is it mixologists, we'll find out), sommeliers, restaurant owners, managers. There will be members of the local dining media, some national media, plus niche purveyors and members of local food organizations. Expect coverage of moving targets as well, such as farmer's markets and food trucks.
Craig is an experienced interviewer, so my guess is the subject matter will stay focused and move at a fair clip. Since Food Talk STL hopes to provide answers to specific local dining questions, listener interaction and comments may play into the content as well.
Listen to Food Talk STL live on 590 AM each Saturday at 11 a.m., or stream it live online at kfns.com. You never know when a certain dining editor might stop by.
