First came the text message from Nathalie Pettus at 4:30 this morning:
“Nathalie: The Clarksville Station is burning to the ground as I write this. We will rebuild and it will be better than ever. The Overlook Farm family is strong and we will go forward.”
Was this some mean-spirited joke? Or a hack job? Unfortunately, the answer was no.
The first bit of published news came via Feast, who reported that the same message had appeared on the Farm’s Facebook page.
Then we caught a helo shot (below), courtesy of FOX2’s SkyFox, showing the extent of the destruction.
Pettus, owner of Clarksville’s Overlook Farm and Clarksville Station, the restaurant on the property, commented that the restaurant will most certainly be rebuilt.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
Jimmy Voss (right), exec chef for both Clarksville Station and Pettus’ other restaurant, Nathalie’s in the CWE, spends several days a week in Clarksville and was in town when he heard the news.
“I got the call just after 2 o’clock,” he said. “All that wood, the wooden joists and attic spaces…it was all over in less than an hour...it was ugly.”
While Pettus initiated the rebuilding process, Voss’ immediate task was to keep Overlook’s team of chefs working. “They’ll help me get Nathalie’s open for brunch sooner than expected,” he said. “Then lunch and breakfast, in that order. I'll keep them busy."
