Although Cupcake Wars has been raging on the Food Network for three-plus years, we haven't seen many Cupcake Truces declared, until now, that is.
Credit Ericka Frank and Nicole Puyear, owners of The Cup, the city's first gourmet cupcakery, with the idea. They wanted to create a special cupcake and donate 100% of its proceeds to St. Louis Children's Hospital. When Puyear asked other local cupcake bakers if they'd be interested in doing the same, they responded in true St. Louis fashion--generously--and the city's first Cupcake Truce was born.
On Saturday, November 16, six local cupcake bakers will participate. All will prepare a custom cupcake as well as share a story about a special child from St. Louis Children's Hospital.
For the occasion, The Cup created a Bananas Foster cupcake (right), a combination of banana rum cake and cinnamon cream cheese frosting with a filling of cinnamon spiced banana pudding.
