We thought we'd had it up to here with all this Royal Wedding business... until this little distraction came along.
Apparently, Chef Casey Shiller of Jilly's Cupcake Bar & Cafe got all caught up in the hoopla as well, and, inspired by Kate and William's actual wedding cake, created the Royal Wedding Cupcake at left.
Looking like an English rose in bloom, it's even more dramatic once you hear what's inside: a lemon-almond cake with brandy-soaked raisins, cherries and walnuts is filled with a zippy lemon curd, then iced with orange-blossom buttercream, and garnished with edible pearls. A royal mouthful indeed.
These gems will set you back $ 5 per, and will be available at Jilly's tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday only. Pre-orders are welcome, and in Relish's opinion, suggested.
Oh, and as we're not up to snuff on our teas, pairing these babies is up to you... all we know is that tomorrow at 5 AM we'll be sipping something other than Lipton.
