The guessing game of which restaurateur will occupy the spectacular smoked glass and stone building in the sprauling 2.9 acre City Garden, downtown's beautifully landscaped park scheduled to open July 1, is now over.
Jim Fiala (of The Crossing, Liluma and Acero) will add a fourth jewel to his restaurant crown--maybe the crown jewel--with The Terrace View, a restauarnt with "Midwest ingredients and Mediterranean flavors." Fiala expects the venue to have "complete regional appeal, similar to The Boathouse. It will be a destination for both in- and out-of-towners."
There was speculation that the Bommarito's (of Tony's) would occupy the space, but Vince Bommarito said the space was just not viable for what he envisioned there. The venue is not huge...50 seats inside and another 50 outside.
The chef will be Chris Bork, who was head chef ar Revival until it shuttered on May 29. The Terrace View will serve both lunch and dinner. Look for an early-July opening. --George Mahe
