Underneath this Snuggie I’m Completely Naked
Last week, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria co-owner Ted Collier noticed that people were hanging out on the restaurant’s patio, doing their best to conjure the arrival of spring, but still shivering despite the outdoor heaters. He promptly went out and bought half a dozen Snuggies (aka “Slankets”), the blanket with sleeves. Now, one of these red robes of relaxation sits folded on each of the patio’s tables, ready to be donned by freezing fashionistas. Eat pizza, drink cocktails, and by all means, convene outdoors if you wish, but those of you trying to sneak a cigarette on the patio – do not burn a hole in your Snuggie!
The Lent is Too Damn High
No need to sacrifice when your Lenten meal may include blackened sea scallops over lobster risotto, bacon-wrapped sea scallops in smoked Gouda cream, Mussels Thai Curry, and “Cajun Love Mussels.” These off-menu specials and plenty more are available at the Broadway Oyster Bar’s Mussel and Scallops Festival, scheduled for March 28 and 29. The bivalve bacchanal includes live music, too.
Who Will be the Cinderella?
The blokes at Circle 7 Ranch Taphouse & Grill in Ballwin have created the first annual Tournament of Beers to salute and mirror the March Madness NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Sixty-four beers face off in a big bracket, with the winners determined by which is more popular on designated nights, through April 7. (The tourney is handicapped by making all the beers $4 each.) The beers have been painstakingly divided into “regions,” and the eventual winner receives “the coveted Golden Taphandle Trophy.”
