Better Than the Main Course?
It’s easy to zoom right by unobtrusive BBQ shack Andre’s Ribs Julie's Way on South Kingshighway. (It’s catty-corner to Eddie’s Southtown Donuts.) If you do drop in to the year-old eatery, don’t bypass the potato salad or the 7-UP cake. The soul-food potato salad is heavy on the hard-boiled egg yolks, and yummy. The 7UP Cake is a dense bundt cake that’s even yummier.
The Ice Chest Cometh
The “Chill Tables” at the relocated The Kitchen Sink make the patio an extra-cool place to be. These are wooden tables equipped with recessed ice chests mounted right in the table. You can keep your glass, longneck beer, champagne bottle, etc. on ice between sips or pours. It’s extra-civilized and extra-fun.
The Carnivore Who Wants More
Bob’s Butcher Block is the every-Wednesday special for the adventurous diner at Eleven Eleven Mississippi. Unusual cuts of meat are used in creative dishes like oxtail-stuffed Anaheim pepper with roasted red-pepper coulis, braised goat-shoulder croquettes with mustard sauce, and braised pork-shank empanadas with garlic-citrus sauce.
