One year ago, Stanley and Arlene Browne of Robust Cafe and Wine Bar asked their fans and devotees to name a donut holes-and-coffee-themed dessert that had been surreptitiously tagged as "The Unknown Dessert." Several weeks later, a winner was chosen and "The Copstopper" was born.
Today the Browne's have announced another contest--this one demanding both graphic and word skills--a competition to design the wine label for their proprietary wine, the 2008 Cellar Arts "The Robust Blend," a Napa Valley cuvee from Nicholson Jones Selections. (Sidebar: If you haven't tried any of NJ's wines, you're missing out--their rose is the finest I've had in this town and the reds are just stellar.)
The competition will launch April 15 on Robust's website and run through May 15, at which point the entries will be unveiled and the public will be asked to vote for their Top 10. A jury of professional judges will choose three runners-up and the winner at a reception at a time TBD in June. Expect social media to play a large part in the competition, as it does in Robust's other marketing programs. No restaurant works that angle better than Robust.
So put your funky graphics hat on and get those creative juices flowing...fueled perhaps by a glass of robust, red wine.
