After the rather sudden and unexpected announcement on March 1 that she was no longer involved with Sauce, the niche magazine she co-founded in 1989 with Allyson Mace, Catherine Neville announced today that she has teamed up with Lee Enterprises, publishers of the St. Louis Post Dispatch and several other local publications.
This from this morning's press release:
Catherine Neville has joined the niche publishing division of Lee Enterprises’ St. Louis operations to launch a culinary and home-entertaining magazine that will debut early this summer and will be based in St. Louis.
“This is an incredible opportunity to build a high quality content platform for all things culinary,” said Neville. “We have the ability to offer this content to a significantly larger audience here in St. Louis and beyond.”
Neville is well-connected both both locally and nationally, and has already reached out to several local food writers—and even the dining editor of the local city magazine—to assist her in her new venture. She’s universally well-respected, without equal, and virtually without enemies, an anomaly in any business.
In her dining segments over the years, she’s encouraged locals to “Eat, drink, and live well.” This year, expect the motto to be different, but the message to be the same. – George Mahe
