Another Operation Food Search event is smaller in scale but should be just as special. Celebrated food-truck vendor and underground-event Chef John Perkins is parking Entre Mobile at OFS HQ (6282 Olive Boulevard in U. City) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
He says his lunch menu for the day includes the Entre Burger, which is "80 percent beef and 20 percent bacon, served with caramelized onions and dill pickles" (and optional additional bacon and cheddar); elote, or Mexican street corn featuring Mexican crema, cotija (hard cheese), and a chili blend with lime-zest salt; and a beer-braised hot dog finished on the grill with fried onions, peperonata, house-made pickles, apple mustard, and spicy aioli.
Perkins wants you to know he'll take a buck off each item you order for any donated canned goods, and that all are welcome to take free tours of OFS, too.
He also wants you to know that Entre Mobile has been doing a brisk business outside the newly opened Perennial Artisan Ales, and later that night he'll be offering the same menu at Perennial (8125 Michigan in the Carondolet neighborhood), with the additions of chicken and squash tamales; another kind of elote featuring corn off-the-cob, fried onions, and fried eggs; poutine with cider gravy; and s'mores made from spiced shortbread, Mexican chocolate, and smoked marshmallows.
I think we like you, Chef Perkins. We like you lots.
