Steve Gontram is out to expand his 5 Star Burgers empire again, this time in Creve Coeur. The paperwork is in with Creve Coeur officials for a new branch of 5 Star at 11601 Olive Boulevard, in a portion of the space formerly occupied by Creve Coeur Camera. (That's the same strip mall that also houses Il Bel Lago and Crushed Red.)
The permit request calls for 86 seats inside and 38 outside, but Gontram says the viability hinges on as-yet-unapproved signage that faces Olive. "It's by no means a done deal," he told SLM. "My hope is that it happens early next year."
The new location would join the original local spot in Clayton and its first spin-off in Kirkwood, as well as Steve's dad's original places in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos, NM.
