Rung is closing its doors.
The Rock Hill resale shop announced today that it will shutter its retail business after service September 30. Founder and president Ali Kindle Hogan will reopen Rung as a brand new concept.
"The new Rung will be a 'single source' providing and connecting the services that women who lack economic independence need to reach the next 'rung' of success in their lives," notes a press release. "To give the re-envisioned Rung the focus and attention it deserves, the decision was made to bring operations to a close at the resale shop this year."
Hogan believes that the needs of women in St. Louis have changed since the shop opened in 2010. "Women don’t just need help finding the right outfit to get a job," she says in the release. "They need a clear path to resources and services that will help them achieve economic sustainability for themselves, their families, and for future generations."
In preparation for launching the new concept, she spent two years researching best practices and new approaches to "helping women achieve sustainability."
Donations for Rung will be accepted through August 31. Customers can shop through September 30. The resale boutique will be closed throughout October, as it's reserved for private events for the boutique's nonprofit partner organizations.
“My hope is that the boutique supporters I have come to know and love will be inspired to support and embrace the new Rung as it re-emerges to meet women where they are with exactly the support they need to achieve sustainability," Hogan says.
A launch date for the new concept is not yet set, but "work is already underway."
