St. Louis-based fragrance empire k. hall designs recently opened its first Chicago location, named U.S. Apothecary.
Kelley Barr turned her fragrance-mixing hobby into a business when she opened k. hall designs (8416 Manchester, 314-963-3293; Plaza Frontenac, 1701 S. Lindbergh, 314-991-6988) in 1997. Her business has grown to include three more lines: Barr-Co., Simpatico, and the Chicago store's namesake, U.S. Apothecary.
Barr's fragrance lines include scented candles, soaps, lotions, and cleaning products that have been featured in Real Simple, Southern Living, and People. In addition to the two St. Louis retail locations, the line is also sold in hundreds of stores across the country. Read more about Barr here.
The Chicago store, in the popular Lakeview neighborhood, is the brand's first location outside of St. Louis.
"It is incredibly exciting to open a new shop in Chicago," said Barr. "We love the city's energy and feel that our brand is a great match for the Lakeview community."
This weekend, k. hall designs will be hosting a Warehouse Sale at the Brentwood location on Manchester, featuring up to 80 percent off discontinued merchandise and production seconds. Check out the sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
