Years ago, it was fairly common in St. Louis to find antiques shows that hawked unique finds from fine furniture to folk art, fanciful textiles to Tiffany jewels. Those shows are more rare nowadays, so this month provides a chance to revisit the past.
The St. Louis Antique Show & Sale (Greensfelder Recreation Complex, Queeny Park, 550 Weidman, 918-619-2875, heritageeventcompany.com), held September 19 through 21, will include 50 ven-dors who hail from such far-flung states as Texas and Minnesota.St. Louisans will represent about20 percent of the dealers. Among them: Larry and Linda Owen of Cross-Eyed Cricket Antiques, which sells vintage jewelry; Carolyn Nickerson of Nickerson’s Antiques, which specializes in majolica and antique flow blue china; and Deryl Stone of Stone’s Antiques & Collectibles, which carries a variety of Civil War–era antiques, historic maps, and more.
“I tried to solicit dealers who will keep the show well-rounded, so we’re not too heavy on any one type or specialty,” says Gail Kinney, co-owner of Tulsa-based Heritage Event Company, the show’s organizer. Shoppers can expect to find estate jewelry, vintage clothing, collectible toys, and furniture, among other items.
Admission to the event is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 9 to 12, and free for children age 8 and under.It runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
