The goal for this perfectly pristine kitchen was to make it “clean, uncluttered, and easy to maintain,” says Dana Romeis of Castle Design. “It also utilizes the latest in all kinds of technology.” Romeis and architect Helen Lee of Tao + Lee designed every inch of the Central West End penthouse, and Classic Woodworking built all of the casework. “Everything is custom,” Romeis says. “It’s everywhere, and it’s amazing.” The kitchen design started with the marble slabs behind the stovetop and the flooring, 18- by 36- by 3/16-inch thick porcelain. The tall white cabinets on the left house a full-height refrigerator, full-height freezer, and pullout pantries. On the opposite wall, there is a convection oven, steam oven, speed oven, and warming drawer. The island holds an icemaker, wine cooler, refrigerator and dishwasher drawers. The lighting was done by Ken McKelvie of McKelvie Lighting Design. “For a room with only one window, it is very bright and airy,” Romeis says. “He used a lot of indirect LED lighting and it really fills the space."
