Beck/Allen created the cabinetry. Designer Amie Corley of Amie Corley Interiors added a replica SaarinenTulip Table and the rattan- and plastic-woven Riviera chairs and stools from Serena and Lily. “I’ve used them in almost everyone’s kitchen,” she says. “It’s a nice, warm texture, but also totally practical.” Framed in white, the daughters’ artwork adorns the walls. The hardware, from Locks and Pulls Design Elements, and the lighting fixtures are all brass. “I think it is the best way to make a kitchen feel warm and not so sterile,” Corley says. The homeowners also added French doors—one leading into the pantry, a second into the laundry room. “This is my dream kitchen,” the homeowner says.

“We wanted the entrance to be super clean,” Corley says. The Lucite console came from CB2, the mirror from Wisteria; the ceiling light from Circa Lighting, and the rug on eBay.

“This is the TV room, so the whole idea was to be cozy,” Corley says. The sofa is by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. The walls are covered in an aqua-green Meg Braff Designs grass cloth. A Jonathan Adler Sputnik chandelier hangs above. On the wall is a collection of blue-and-white china. “We wanted to create a little bit of an unexpected color combination in here with the china blue,” Corley says. “You usually don’t see china blue and aqua together.” A bamboo dresser (not shown in photo) was found on eBay and re-lacquered a shade off the wallpaper. “Then we added orange,” she says. “Aqua and orange. What’s not to love?”

The goal here was to create two conversation areas. Corley designed and had a carpenter build a full-length bookshelf, and then she added the brass lights. “White just feels bare,” Corley says. “White walls are gorgeous, but you need a lot of art and a lot of lighting.” The hardwood floors are covered with a smattering of hides. “Cowhides are the best for kids,” Corley says. “They are kind of amorphous in their shape, and you can afford a few of them for a space.” The design was meant to be clean and classic, with a twist of nostalgia. “The homeowner loves preppy retro but with sophisticated pieces, not so cheeky preppy,” she says. Some of the pieces picked included a vintage Lucite table, a pair of chairs on eBay, a Bunny Williams blue lamp, and a photo by Slim Aarons. At the far end of the room (not seen), the homeowner and Corley designed the mantel and mirrored fireplace surround.

Since the dining room is off the pool, the design intent was to make the space feel as sunny as possible. The David Hicks wallpaper is called The Vase. “We got her beautiful vintage chandelier at Jon Paul [Designs & Collectibles],” Corley says. “I love the vintage black shades, which go so nicely with the yellow.” The homeowner already owned the Kravet dining-room table and the Worlds Away black patent leather chairs and white buffet.
