While an influx of 70s-inspired garments ranging from denim to art-inspired prints take center stage on fashion’s forefront, tempering our more funky pieces with just the slightest bit of glam feels right. Our homes are no exception.
DENIM
Classically American, and more of a staple than a trend, denim was seen everywhere from Saint Laurent to Chanel (yes, even Chanel did denim this season). Iterations involved everything from patchwork to distressed to midnight-washed hues. For the home, feel free to choose whatever tickles your fancy. Much like its fashion counterpart (blue jeans), a denim sofa goes with anything.
GRAPHIC ART
While 70s art-inspired prints are often thought of as being boldly colorful (think Pucci, Missoni, etc.), we prefer ours a tad more graphic. Just as visually stimulating but with much more restraint, Marni’s black-and-white fashion offering is undoubtedly a piece of art, but just as chic are the optic marvels of artist M.C Escher. Almost architectural in nature, any of his renderings offer the perfect backdrop for a modern dining room or minimal home office.
SPARKLE
Sometimes the boho look can feel just a little too literal; after all, not every day is Coachella. In fashion, metallic, sequin, and crystal detailing often add the perfect juxtaposition to a modern-hippie ensemble. In the home, high-shine extras such as polished graphite hardware, quartz countertops, and one or two dazzling chandeliers bring together just the right amount of sparkling contrast for those on-trend rustic interiors.
