Beloved cheeky design label Golden Gems will be relocating their shop after outgrowing their 1,200-square-foot building at 3156 Cherokee Street. The new location at 3108 Locust Street will be 5,600 square feet.
Golden Gems specializes in apparel, home décor (see the "Baddest Babe in the USA" mugs), and quirky accessories (like the "Wicked Woman" key tags). Their shop offers everything from candles and jewelry to clothing and wall hangings—all custom-made by owners Amanda Helman and Susan Logsdon.
At the new brick-and-mortar, the shop will triple its product line and take on an additional four employees. The new location will feature the shop in the front of the building, while the back will house shipping, offices, a photography studio, and more.
Tin ceilings, a pink exterior, and the shop’s signature orange blossom mural will replace the interior of the well-known Fubar venue. “I remember seeing shows there years ago and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought in a few years I would be running my business out of that space,” Helman said in a statement.
The new location is scheduled to open this summer. While renovations are in the process, customers can shop at the Cherokee location Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m.–4 p.m. or on their website. But don't worry, the Cherokee storefront won't be empty for long after Golden Gems leaves, Assassin Vintage has announced they'll be moving in to the storefront next.
