At Clayton’s Hill Investment Group (7701 Forsyth, 314-448-4023, hillinvestmentgroup.com), St. Louis interior designer Amie Corley of Amie Corley Interiors (314-496-6022, amiecorley.com) recently finished a revamp. While she doesn’t usually do commercial work, Corley was keen to take the job after having worked on the home of company co-founder and president Matt Hall, who shares her love of art.
Hall says the 3,300-square-foot space’s new aesthetic perfectly echoes the firm’s ethos. “There’s a lot of symbolism here,” he says, referring to the transparency of the floor-to-ceiling glass partitions, the tranquility of the artwork, and a lounge-like area where “humans can talk to humans.”
“There’s no big TV here,” he says. “No CNBC or Fox News.” Rather, there are wooden shelves of books, nature photographs, and paintings that speak to the ups and downs of life—if not the market. Open areas are designed for collaborative work, while enclosed offices offer more privacy. Adjustable-height desks allow for standing or sitting. Meetings are announced by a few crystalline dings of a xylophone. “There is no shouting here,” Hall says.
Corley herself is most pleased with the lounge. The mix of materials—a walnut credenza, a concrete coffee table, a silvery lamp, leather chairs, velvet pillows—is something she insists on for her residential spaces. “It adds a collected and softer touch,” she says.
