Here’s an easy sewing project you and your kids will love creating, giving, and receiving! These pretty, microwaveable pocket warmers are perfect for keeping fingers toasty on a frosty February day!
Supplies:
Felt
Embroidery Floss
Large needle
Scalloped edge scissors
Fabric scissors
Buckwheat hull or rice (jasmine or basmati rice is more fragrant)
Waxtex sandwich bags
Cardstock
Printer
What to do:
1. Gather supplies. With scalloped-edged scissors, cut out two 3.5" x 2.5" rectangles from colorful felt.
2. Begin stitching around edge of rectangle with embroidery floss, leaving about a 1.5” opening. I used a reverse blanket stitch and a simple straight stitch, but feel free to get creative. See stitch options above.
3. Fill pocket warmer with buckwheat hull or rice. Finish sewing opening. Repeat these steps and make as many as you like. It’s that simple!
4. Print and cut out tags and directions using this PDF or create your own. Trim the top 3 inches off a waxed paper bag with scalloped edge scissors. Insert two hand warmers side by side and tuck directions behind them. Fold top of bag over. Stitch tag to front/top of bag using embroidery floss and needle.
5. Share with the ones you love!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
