While every one else in the world is out bustling about gathering up gifts to give friends, I've been working the keyboard trying to track down donations for AT HOME's 2009 community project of getting four of Habitat of Humanity's recently completed houses furnished and finished. More than 30 designers have volunteered to work on the interiors. But the trick comes in finding all the materials they will need to get the job done.
Thank you, Sunny Lim.
The creative director of The HomePort Collection (a wholesaler of furniture and accessories), Sunny decided to clean out the company's warehouse—and give us the contents. It totaled a whopping $13,100 and included everything from a queen-sized bed to dishes, vases, bookshelves, room divider and tables. WOW. What a great way to end the year (and at the same time, make room for HomePort's 2009 collection). Born in Singapore, the wonderful Mr. Lim has been living in Washingon, Mo. for the past decade. In an email, he wrote: "I always call St. Louis my home city. I've met so many people that are so kind to me, but it's quite a shame I didn't really know a lot about the city. It's good that we are able to help to contribute to people in need in our own community."
And it is also wonderful that we have kind and generous people like Sunny Lim living here.
