When it came to his wine cellar, the homeowner wanted a Mediterranean look.
But the room also needed some drama. The goal was to make the guests who are invited in to sample wine from the owner’s collection feel like they were in a vineyard in Tuscany. The fresco painted on the wall was meant to give the impression that one was in a castle looking out over the vineyard.
The accent lighting was hidden to accomplish this adding the impression of a warm summertime view. The dramatic spot illumination recessed in the ceiling draws the eye to the wine collection, sets the mood, and focuses on the wine tasting table.
All the light sources were hidden to increase the sense of wonder and cause won to salivate!
It is the best of theater lighting design brought to the residential environment. Come on over and have a taste of great lighting.
