In a mere matter of hours, the turkey will be stuffed into the oven for Thanksgiving. And of course, that's just a blink away from Christmas so if you're ready to outfit your home in mistletoe and holly, you may want to jump in your card and head out to Josef Mykel in Chesterfield. Every staff elf has converted the shop into a wonderland. To grab the sneak preview, I drove out a couple of weeks ago and slipped into the back room. It was chock-full of every yuletide nicety that you could possibly imagine. Four-foot tall wooden soldiers, life-sized Santas, Mark Roberts fairies. Yikes, the list is never ending. As owner Bill Kinner says, the shop is more than just a place to get a custom-designed wreath or snazzy accessory—it's also a design studio. The staff will whip things together there and go to you home to decorate it from the front door, up the staircase, on every mantel and in every room. During those not so ho-ho-ho times, Josef Mykel reverts back to the regular business of interior design and retail. The place can even design, fabricate and install drapes in two weeks. But I digress. If you want to start thinking Christmas (and quite honestly, I'm not there yet), I suggest you plug 17826 Edison into Mapquest and head out there. You'll come out laden with Christmas trimmings and whistling "White Christmas".
