Maybe you missed the Shaw Nature Reserve Plant Sale last weekend. (I did. I was bummed out about it, too.) No worries; I will let you in on a secret, which is that you can get similar plants (for a limited time, natch) at the Kirkwood Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. And this is the time of year when there is a plant sale every three days, practically, not to mention a garden tour. The one not to miss is the Missouri Botantical Garden's St. Louis Garden Tour, which happens only every three years, and is very competitive. But there are plenty of other charming tours, like the Lafayette Square House & Garden Tour, Pond-o-Rama Water Gardening Tour, and the Ste. Genevieve Spring Garden Walk, which happens this weekend. There are also plant sales every week at MoBot, sponsored by various gardening clubs around town, who specialize in everything from roses to rock gardens. The Gateway Gardener has a good, general events calendar that also includes not just every plant sale and garden tour, but the digressive stuff like kids' events and book signings. And if you're too busy this spring to go looking at any yard but your own, there is always the St. Louis Flickr group for some digital garden-voyeurism opportunities....
It's Garden Tour (and Plant Sale!) Season
It's the time of year when people's hearts break over having only so much yard space.
