A big part of my job is cruising the internet. I read online publications, I track the trends, and I hunt down products.
And then I go on Etsy.
For the few uninitiated out there, Etsy is a network of artisans who hawk their wares through the Etsy site. You can search by product or (as I often do), by city. And the results can be fabulous.
Like today. I was going through the St. Louis sites and on one of them, I checked out her favorite shops and found: Sarletpoppe's Shop (etsy.com/people/scarletpoppe). The fabric's sold by the yard, but the patterns are fun and oh-so-inexpensive. Sometimes the yardage is limited but the shop is always worth a visit.
A sampling of some of my favorites, all costing no more than (and sometimes less than) $10 a yard:
Almost Jonathan Adler-esque; dotted with blue; a dash of orange; a mellow combo; and a classic chevron (available in comes in several colors including blue, brown, black and red with blue)
I'm kinda crazy over these Suzani Village prints (in two color patterns); for those of you smitten with the current yellow with gray craze; and a fun offbeat color combo.
Granted, many of these fabrics can be found elsewhere (i.e. fabrics.com) but I'm always rooting for the woman at home, raising her kids, and bringing in some bread. Hence, I almost always go to Etsy first—if I can't find it locally.
