I love dwell. I love everything about that magazine—the feel and weight of its recycled paper, the amazing homes, the great green stuff and stories. I even like their ads. So, when dwell starts buzzing—or make that blogging—about a house in our own fair city and a house that has appeared (in a somewhat abbreviated form) in our own magazine, I am thrilled, thrilled, thrilled. And, dear friends, that is exactly what happened.
First the incredibly talented Killeen Studio designed a dwell-like house for Jennifer and Ivan Garcia family—a venture they entered into the 2008 AT HOME Architect and Design Awards (see Nov/Dec, 2008 issue; on the web now). And it won. (And, by the by, one of the judges was Sam Grawe, editor of, yep, you guessed it, dwell.)
Then Christopher Bright, one of dwell's bloggers, started chatting about the house and an entire conversation and nearly 40 postings followed. And then another blog, jetsongreen.com, picked it up and the chit chat continued.
I just love that. It’s a great house. A great online conversation. And, I might add, a lovely addition to St. Louis.
