We are never sure which design trends to adopt—or ignore. So we decided to turn to Amie Corley of Amie Corley Interiors (314-496-6022, amiecorleyinteriors@gmail.com, amiecorley.com) for advice.
“Personally, I try to not get sucked into current design trends. Anything too ‘of the moment’ makes my heart race, and not in a good way...unless, it's something brought back from the past. A trend my grandmother might have incorporated into her decor (chinoiserie) or something that she thought was timeless (a Jansen settee) are things that I find so fresh when mixed with the right new pieces. Vintage and antique styles that become popular again always spur me to jump on eBay in a mad search for these treasures. It's really amazing what a vintage piece will do for a room. I always try to anchor my spaces with at least one showstopper antique or vintage piece. It really adds some history and that little je ne sais quois that you just can't put your finger on. Today, my favorite trends are those that have a past behind them but somehow manage to seem current and fresh."
