Franchi1967
Franchi's 1967 seed catalog. Groovy!
This year, thanks to the awesome Homegrown Evolution, I discovered the existence of the Franchi seed company, which has been around since 1783 yet also has a Facebook page. Kelly and Erik of Homegrown Evolution say they have been using Franchi seeds for more than 10 years, with great results. (I aspire to be that cool one day. They are also the reason why I knew what to do when I was bothered by an infestation of horrible, awful no-good pantry moths last summer. Vinegar, baby! And a high-suction vac...)
You Slow Food people need to know about Franchi; they deal in truffle spawn. Me, I'm charmed by the fact that they keep a "Living Pet Food," seed selection, including greens you can grow for your cat or dog, as well as your budgie, iguana or squirrel. Go here, where H.E. has posted all the info on Franchi's North American distributor, Frank Ruggless, and get your very own Franchi catalog. --Stefene Russell
