Color blind design: Don’t try to match the art and the décor of your room.
The most common design fallacy when selecting art for your home is the idea that the art should match your decor. The truth is that it’s actually nice to have a surprise color in the room. The easiest way to add that surprise splash of color is through the addition of a piece of art.
It’s not that the art cannot blend with your color scheme. On the contrary, it’s always wise to be mindful of your overall color palette when selecting art but resist the urge to match the art to the sofa beneath it. By introducing an additional color into a room through your art, you’ll end up with a space that appears well thought out… without looking like everything came together in the same box.
