For those faithful readers of the magazine, you may recall that last Thanksgiving turned a little hot at our house.
To be exact, the dining room caught on fire while we blissfully watched "UP" in the den. Blame it on a single candle who slipped down its stick to heat up the antique buffet, which turned the heat on the walls upholstered in cream linen and faster than you can say, "Great Turkey," flames were shooting up the wall.
After a futile attempt to put it out with a tea towel, the firemen arrived with their axes.
The aftermath? Ugly.
Really ugly.
But, then the man who used to own the house, interior designer Tim Rohan, rode to our rescue and (with the help of a very good insurance company), he brought it back from the ashes. Below is the same angle but with new wallpaper, a refinished buffet, repaired wall and a hole-less ceiling.
This Thanksgiving we throwing in our candles—and turning on flashlights.
