Rese Amanda Tennis Skirt
You don’t have to be a tennis fan to appreciate the fashion-forward leanings of this year’s U.S. Open athletes. Between Caroline Wozniacki and Serena Williams, it was a stylish fight to the finish. Williams served up a bold Nike tennis dress with a purple leopard print, while Wozniacki went sleek and feminine, sporting an Adidas by Stella McCartney ruffle dress.
For St. Louisans looking to combine style and sport, it’s all about incorporating subtle pops of color into everyday basics. Nancy McGee, owner of Fun in the Sun Sports (which is adding a second location, in Chesterfield, this October), says many customers are seeking out bright detailing on trim, tanks, and straps. As for silhouette, it’s all about personal preference. Peek-a-boo detailing, like mesh paneling and well-placed cut-outs, help spruce up athletic-wear basics. McGee also has noticed a rise in feminine details, such as soft colors and ruffles—similar to Wozniacki's dress. McGee's especially excited about the latest from active-wear line Rese. This season's collection sports subliminal tie-dye prints; it will be in stores this November.
