For a casual start to the day, head to Stomp’n Grounds Espresso Bar for locally sourced coffee from St. Louis’ Blueprint Coffee Roaster and savory comfort food. On weekends, Hermann Wurst Haus offers an all-you-can-eat brunch, featuring its award-winning pork sausage and smoked bacon, available in the restaurant’s deli. For lunch, choose from 4th St. Pizza (with New York–style pie and classic checkered tablecloths), Wings A-Blazin’ (serving up fresh hot wings in a range of flavors), or Tin Mill Restaurant (offering German-style fare and beer from its brewery, as well as wines from Hermannhof Winery). And for dinner, enjoy music and more at The Piano Bar.

Nestled in the rolling hills near Hermann, Pea Ridge Forest is an ideal place to pick out a tree with your family. There is an expansive collection of trees–white pine, Scotch pine, Norway spruce, and fraser fir trees, and guests can select a tree with help from the expert staff. Afterward, warm up with food and drink by the stone fireplace inside the cozy barn. Back in Hermann, Sugar Momma’s sweets shop stock all of the nostalgic candy you can imagine, as well as homemade pies and holiday treats, or visit Ricky’s Chocolate Box for peanut butter truffles, butter pecan toffee, and caramels. 

STAY

Just east of downtown Hermann, Alpenhorn Gasthaus offers more to explore than a typical B&B, with 8 acres and farm animals. The Inn at Hermannhof houses both luxury suites at the main inn, as well as historic stone cottages. And the Vinchester Inn boutique hotel is a sleek, more modern alternative.
