Live From the Windy City
You don’t have to travel to 30 Rock in NYC to be a part of Saturday Night Live. Instead, head for Chicago’s Museum of Broadcast Communications for SNL: The Experience. The 12,000-square-foot exhibit houses iconic costumes and props. Along the way, learn how the show comes together each week, and see a Studio 8H replica.
Heart & Soul
Through April 23, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, in Bentonville, Arkansas, exhibits Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power, exploring how black artists from the 1960s through the ’80s reshaped American culture. (Then, May 26–September 3, look for The Beyond: Georgia O’Keeffe & Contemporary Art, featuring dozens of O’Keeffe’s works.
Long Live the King
Last March, Graceland unveiled its largest expansion to date: the $45 million Elvis Presley’s Memphis, featuring the 20,000-square-foot Elvis: The Entertainer museum, chock-full of memorabilia from the King’s life; an automobile museum, housing his iconic pink Cadillac; and a soundstage.
Hoopla
March Madness comes to K.C. in late March, when the Sprint Center hosts the NCAA Women’s Regional (with the semifinals on March 23 and the final on March 25). The champion of the Midwest region moves on to the Final Four in Columbus, Ohio. While you’re in K.C., check out the Power & Light District, next door, and hop on the KC Streetcar to check out Union Station or City Market.
