April 15 | Blues v. Blackhawks
Friday night will be an exciting evening for hockey fans, as the Blues face the rival Chicago Blackhakws during the first round of this year's Stanley Cup playoffs. (Tip: Consider public transit. With the Cardinals playing the Cincinnati Reds at 7:15 p.m., downtown parking will be at a premium.) $60–$425. 7 p.m.. Scottrade Center, 1401 Clark.
April 15–17 | St. Louis Tionól
Founded nearly 20 years ago as the Mississippi River Celtic Music Festival, this multi-day event includes live concerts from some of Ireland's finest traditional musicians. This year's festival includes a show at Schlarfly Tap Room and a music-filled Sunday morning brunch at John D. McGurk’s. But the can't-miss event is Saturday night's concert at The Sheldon. Visiting performers include fiddler Malachy Bourke, uileann piper Donnacha Dwyer, piper Kevin Rowsome, flute player Eamonn Cotter, concertina player Padraig Rynne, balladeer Eimear Arkins, harpist Therese Honey, and bodhran player Mark Stone. Multple times, prices, and venues.
April 16 | The Color Run
Runners toe the starting line dressed in white and are doused with paint as they run a 5k. By the time they cross the finish line, they're covered in a rainbow of colors. The run, which celebrates healthy living, donates a portion of the proceeds to a good cause; this year, that nonprofit is Autism Speaks. Free to observe, $14–$49.99 to register. 8 a.m. Poelker/Kaufmann Park 1315 Chestnut, downtown St. Louis.
April 16 | Record Store Day
It's kind of amazing, but there might be more record stores in St. Louis now than when Record Store Day began in 2007 (though sadly, we've lost a few along the way). This year, look for special releases and live performances at Planet Score Records, Slackers Music, Vintage Vinyl, Record Exchange, and Euclid Records. Free. Multiple times and venues.
