Ruth Pferdehirt and Aaron Bartz in The Rep's "Born Yesterday."
Born Yesterday | through April 8
The Rep closes out its 2017–18 season with the 1946 classic Born Yesterday. On the surface, it looks like a fun, frothy ’40s romp—but dig a little deeper, and you’ll find some biting political satire that reflects our present moment. St. Louis Post-Dispatch theater critic Judith Newmark notes that lead actress Ruth Pferdehirt, who plays Billie, is a standout: "With the baby-doll voice, the way she exaggerates her gestures whether she’s arranging a hand of cards or stomping up the stairs in frustration, with the blond hair and the spectacular figure, Pferdehirt was born to play Billie herself." $18.50-$89. See website for performance dates and times. The Repertory Theater of St. Louis, Loretto-Hilton Center for the Arts, repstl.org.
