Acoustic crooner Jason Mraz proved he wasn't to be left in 2008—where his hit "I'm Yours" played just about everywhere—when he gave us "I Won't Give Up" in 2012, and again this past April with "Have It All." One of the more fun holiday performances of the season, the one-man show A John Waters Christmas features the Hairspray creator in what he calls a “trigger warning” for holiday traditionalists. December 14. The Sheldon Concert Hall.
Harry Connick Jr.’s A New Orleans Tricentennial Celebration...Holiday Edition is all about his hometown’s 300th birthday, NOLA songs, and holiday favorites. His three Christmas albums will give Connick plenty to pick from. December 20. Stifel Theatre.
A 50-foot Christmas tree will entertain children at the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker. For adults, there’s a backdrop created by La La Land’s set designer and the principal dancers. December 2–3. The Fox Theatre.
On Broadway, Leslie Odom Jr. might be best loved for originating the role of Aaron Burr in Hamilton. He’s endeared himself here for his jazz renditions of Christmas classics with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra—and he’s doing it again this year. December 2. Powell Hall.
