Urban Chestnut's 6th Anniversary: Wolpertinger | January 22
Every year, Urban Chestnut celebrates its birthday with the release of new beers, including the Wolpertinger, named for a German crytozoid that's a lot like our Jackalope but with fangs. The brewery says its 2017 Wolpertinger differs form years past in that it's "darker, more robust, and slightly tart with the addition of raspberries"; it's also been aged for two years in Scotch whiskey barrels. There's a lot more to this party than just beer, though: The event also includes German food; music by Saint Boogie Brass Band, Larry Hallar, Alp Horns and others; and samples from nearly 40 regional microbreweries, including Michigan's Bell Brewery, which is this year's special guest brewer. $40. 1–5 p.m. 4465 Manchester, urbanchestnut.com.
