Swimsuit season is here, and it’s the perfect time to shore up your best beach-chic looks.
Swimwear and resort fashion shows featured bold colors, metallics, cutout suits, color-blocking, sporty styles, busty tops, and sophisticated one-pieces.
Let’s start with the cutout suit. With this style, remember that less is more. Focus on using cutouts to emphasize your best assets and strategically camouflage those less-than-desirable areas.
An homage to pin-up posters and Hollywood starlets from the '40s and '50s, high-waisted styles have become a fashion mainstay. This silhouette is endearingly feminine and always classic—it's perfectly suited to downplay a tummy or highlight an hourglass figure. Michael Kors' high-waisted pieces featured delicate details, such as belted bottoms and floral motifs.
Alexander Wang combined mesh, bold colors, and athletic cuts in the line's 2014 swimwear collection. Tossing a Frisbee or playing sand volleyball has never looked more appealing than while wearing the practical, breathable fabrics. The Adidas line designed by Stella McCartney also married sophistication with active wear, using girly details like ruffles while still maintaining a sporty aesthetic.
Karla Colletto, Moschino, and Pucci shows all debuted sleek, urban, and edgy one-pieces that redefine the humdrum silhouettes of the '90s. Black-and-white color-blocking and neutrals created crisp, clean lines and color palettes.
Surf and sand is upon us. With so many silhouettes and styles available this season, it’s easy to look stylish in the sun.
