Giuliana Rancic
While in Chicago last month, I spotted E! News personality Giuliana Rancic out on the town. She looked chic, as always, but what stood out was her hairstyle. For years, Rancic sported long locks with caramel highlights, but she recently opted for a cropped bob with blonde highlights instead—a look that many St. Louisans are adopting as well.
“Blondes and bobs are always popular, but the longer bob that Giuliana is sporting is very requested at the moment," says stylist Michael Simpson of Mary Cate’s Salon in Ellisville. "Her color is being done a lot. I see it with longer and shorter hair, highlighted roots and solid mid-lengths and ends. It's very bold and beautiful."
One consideration before going with blonde highlights: skin tone. Rancic's naturally olive-toned complexion helps accent her bleached locks. Remember that it’s all about balance between the highlights and your natural skin tone. “I find super-blonde works well with either fair to neutral-balanced or golden and olive skin tones," says Simpson. "If you have a lot of red in the face, a warmer approach like a shiny golden blonde would be a better choice.
"First and foremost," he adds, "you need confidence to pull off any color."
