St. Louis-based singer and musician Pokey LaFarge is almost as famous for his personal style as he is for his music, which draws from jazz, blues, western swing, and more. Now he’s bringing that vintage Midwestern aesthetic to life in a new way through a collaboration with Knickerbocker Mfg. Co. in New York.
On February 6, Knickerbocker will launch five new clothing items that were designed in partnership with LaFarge on its pre-sale platform, The Cutting Room.
“It’s rockabilly-inspired workwear—the fabric, the construction, just the whole design,” says Knickerbocker owner Andrew Livingston.
The collection—which includes two T-shirts, a chore coat-style jacket, a western-style shirt, and a pair of flat-front chino pants—will be available for pre-order for only two weeks. Prices range from $32–$260.
“No matter what situation you’re in, [the clothes are] going to bring out the best in who you are and will fit with any level of confidence,” LaFarge says. “The colors, the contrast, the materials, the details, the buttons, and stitches—it’s top quality and made with love right here in the USA.”

LaFarge also notes that the garments can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. For instance, “when you unbutton the top button [of the jacket], you can peel it back and it has lapels exposed, so you can wear it more like a blazer,” he says.
The Cutting Room allows customers to place orders for new items at reduced prices before manufacturing begins. Some items may still be available after the two-week pre-sale period ends, although prices will increase and availability is not guaranteed. Customers can choose to pay upfront or in monthly installments.
“Teaming up with Pokey was a pretty natural fit,” Livingston says. “The inspiration behind his music and the inspiration behind the clothes we make run parallel for sure.”
