All eyes are on the Fox this week because of a little show called Hamilton. Now that we're in the midst of this season's finale, you can start making plans for the next one: the theater just announced its lineup for 2018-19, which include some premieres, as well as some classics:
Love Never Dies, September 18-30: Set 10 years after Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to that popular show is set in Coney Island. A St. Louis premiere.
Disney's Aladdin, November 7-25: This new production of Aladdin includes all the catchy songs from the Disney film as well as new ones.
Anastasia, December 26-January 6: Making its St. Louis debut, Anastasia is based on the animated film of the same name that tells the story of a young woman who sought to prove she was the lone survivor of the Russian royal family.
Fiddler on the Roof, January 29-February 10: The new Broadway production of an old, beloved classic.
Waitress, March 26-April 7: Based on late actor Adrienne Shelly's acclaimed final movie, this new musical is the product of an all-woman creative team.
Miss Saigon, April 23-May 5: A new production of a classic musical by the producers of Les Misérables that sets Madame Butterfly during the Vietnam War.
Come From Away, May 14-26: Based on the true story of how 7,000 airline passengers stranded on September 11, 2001 ended up in tiny Gander, Newfoundland, the musical tells how people bonded through tragedy—and music. A St. Louis premiere.
In addition to these Broadway musicals, the Fox will also present The Illusionists on October 5-7; on December 6-9, Nebraska Theatre Caravan will bring their 40th anniversary tour of A Christmas Carol to St. Louis. Other shows include Les Miserables on December 11-16, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on December 22 & 23, The Rat Pack is Back on February 22-24, Rock of Ages on March 1-3, Bat Out of Hell: The Musical, on March 5-10, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which runs March 12-17.
