The Eagles are currently in the midst of a 53-date 2018 tour, the first extensive tour since the passing of Glenn Frey in January of 2016. The current lineup includes, poignantly enough, Deacon Frey, Glenn's son, as well as Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Steuart Smith, and country legend Vince Gill.
There's a reason The Eagles are Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. They've been around since 1971, and are one of the best-selling bands in history. Their songs are practically engrained in our DNA at this point. (Google them, and we'll bet you know every single song that pops up. At the very least, half.)
The opening band, JD and the Straight Shot, canceled at the last minute, so Sunday was an all-Eagles night for fans. The band sauntered on stage a little after 8 p.m. (Schmit, who had suffered an injury, didn't saunter. He spent the concert playing with a propped-up leg, determined to perform for fans.) When the band tore into the first song of the night, "Seven Bridges Road," the crowd surged to its feet with jubilant roars. The band encouraged the audience to be in the moment and forego the phone and the constant photos; since many audience members were old enough to remember The Eagles at the dawn of their career, when Smartphones weren't a convenient distraction, that advice was likely taken. But after 2.5 hours, 27 songs, and two encores, we're guessing a lot of people finally gave into the urge to snap, scroll and document—posting pics to social media and hashtagging a beloved band, after all, has almost become the 21st century version of standing applause.
