It’s not often that a St. Louis Blues game is not preceded by Charles Glenn singing the National Anthem, but the Blues and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra are offering the chance for a local musician to take Glenn’s spot before a game next season.
The Blues and the SLSO are partnering to showcase the talent of local musicians by holding a contest, the winner of which will perform the National Anthem before a game during the upcoming 2017-18 season.
There will be two rounds of auditions. First, contestants must submit an online entry via the Blues website by midnight on August 11. Finalists will then be invited for live auditions at Powell Hall, judged by Glenn and two representatives from the SLSO. Performers of all ages are welcome to enter, and vocal performing groups, instrumentalists, and small instrumental groups are encouraged in addition to soloists. The game at which the winner will perform will be announced at a later date.
