This morning, LouFest had a lot of news to bring us: first, it's expanding the music lineup with Snoop Dogg, Run the Jewels, Spoon, ZZ Ward, and Middle Kids. Second, ListenLive Entertainment is working with Chuck Berry's family for a program titled "Hail! Hail! Chuck Berry! A Celebration Honoring the Father of Rock N’ Roll," which they say will become a permanent addition to the event. And LouFest is moving! The 2017 festival will be held on the Upper Muny Grounds and Festival Plaza, right above the Muny Amphitheater (see the renderings above).
“We’re excited to be next to this historic landmark in a space with so much to offer. The natural amphitheater setting of our main stage as well as the infrastructure of the Festival Plaza will provide an incredible visitor experience,” ListenLive's Mike Van Hee said in this morning's press release.
Organizers are also adding a day to the festival—things will kick off Friday, September 8 with LouFest U, a day of "performances from local and national bands and guest speakers, and opportunities for young minds to engage with regional employers and entrepreneurial organizations." Other new things for 2017 include “Spirit of St. Louis,” "a nano-architecture exhibition," curated by TechArtista featuring small-scale structures designed by St. Louis artists, including "shade areas made from recycled materials to lighting and lounge installation"; RFID wristbands, which organizers say will streamline and speed up the ticketing and standing-in-line process; and up-to-the-minute info on bands, scheduling, and more (including returning features like the LouKidz area, the Noshpit, Market Square, and the BrewFest beer garden) via the Olio City app.
LouFest happens September 8, 9, and 10; tickets are available at loufest.com/tickets.
