“East Coast meets West Coast” and “a mix of high and low culture.” This is how Jen Rieger describes OSO: a style lab (6321 Delmar Blvd., 314-467-0436), a new boutique that opened on The Loop in late April.
Rieger and her business partner, Chris Rubin de la Borbolla, are co-owners of OSO. For the last two years, they managed The Clover in Webster Groves. But at the invitation of University City, the pair decided to relocate to The Loop and launch an entirely new concept.
Rieger calls OSO a lifestyle store that sells “smaller brands that you won’t find in major department stores.” Some of the brands are local, while others are from Los Angeles, New York, Europe and Japan.
The store carries men’s, women’s, unisex, accessories, and gifts at a variety of price points. Items range in price from $2.50 to $300.
“It’s not the type of store where you go to style yourself from head to toe,” Rieger says. “You might find a shirt here, a pair of pants there, or gifts.”
Rieger and Rubin de la Borbolla wanted “a store that’s as cool as the items in it.” To achieve this, they worked with Anew Nature, a local furniture restoration and design company, to create a completely moveable space. The collaboration produced walls made from a cardboard material that can be easily moved and reconfigured.
“We think the concept of OSO works with the whole Loop vibe,” Rieger says.
OSO is open 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. The store will hold its grand-opening celebration on Saturday, May 21.
