When Kit and Ace first opened this summer to a splashy welcome in the Central West End, St. Louisans embraced the company’s luxe brand of technical clothing. Devotees of the brand will be thrilled to learn that the Canadian retailer recently announced a second St. Louis location scheduled to open on November 12 at Plaza Frontenac.
"We're excited about expanding our footprint in St. Louis," said JJ Wilson, co-founder of Kit and Ace. "The Central West End shop was a great way for us to be introduced and begin a conversation with the local creative class.”
Building on the success of the CWE store, the new space will boast 3,500-square-feet and offer customers a wide-selection of styles including t-shirts, dresses, men’s and women’s pants, outerwear, and men’s button-ups.
"Our technical cashmere t-shirts are what we're known for in St. Louis," says Shannon Wilson, co-founder and creative director. "At Plaza Frontenac we'll be able to provide locals with a variety of styles from our new line, but more importantly, incorporate more hyper-local elements designed by local creatives. That's what we're truly excited about."
To that end, Kit And Ace will continue its commitment to engaging and featuring local artisans, artists, designers and photographers. The new location will host its Supper Tables, where diners discuss issues posed by a Kit and Ace "provocateur" and the evening’s menu is created by a local leading chef. The company will also continue its Feature Light, an exhibition space for local artists to showcase their work.
As a fan of the CWE store, I'm drawn to the message in the copper neon conceptual piece on the wall. It reads, "Time is Precious." With two stores opening here within six months of each other, and another 30-40 slated to open worldwide by year's end, Kit and Ace certainly takes its motto seriously. There is, indeed, no time to lose.
